George Lordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greely Funeral Home on Aug. 17, 2024.
George P. "Rick" Lordan Jr. passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Seacoast Nursing Home with his family by his side. He was 81 years old.
Rick attended Brown & Nichols School from kindergarten through high school before attending Boston College. He subsequently transferred to Harvard where he graduated with a degree in History. After graduating from Harvard, he earned his law degree and LLM from Suffolk Law School. Rick was a dedicated Probate Court lawyer for over 40 years, specializing in Family Law.
In his free time, Rick loved to play hockey, read and collect books on history, and sail on his boat, The Rachel. His love for the ocean was cemented while summering in Annisquam with his family from the time he was 1 1/2 years old. Rick permanently moved to the family's Annisquam summer home in the mid-1970's. He quickly joined in the local festivities as the drummer in the 4th of July parade and the co-organizer (with Michael Wheeler) of the Punch and Judy puppet show at the annual Sea Fair.
Rick shared his passion for the ocean, books, and knowledge with his wife of 45 years, Kathryn Lordan, and his four children, all of whom he now leaves behind: Joshua Lordan of Rockport, Elizabeth Lordan of Gloucester/Rockport, Peter Lordan of Cambridge and Rebecca Lordan-Perret of Brugg, Switzerland.
He also leaves his six grandchildren who were a great source of joy to him.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Jane Cashman Lordan and his sister, Melissa Cummings.
Visiting hours will be held at Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester.
