George McConchie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruffenach Family Funeral Homes - Drexel Hill on Apr. 11, 2025.
George J. McConchie
"Buck"
1929 – 2025
George J. McConchie age 96, of Springfield, died peacefully April 10, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family. George, who went by "Buck" is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Pat; his daughters Laurie (Mark) and Becca (Mark); his niece Mary (Mark); and his affectionate cat Puff. Buck was predeceased by his oldest daughter Betsy.
As a young man, Buck was a member of the Christian Brothers, a congregation whose purpose and people he was close with throughout his life. After leaving the Brothers, Buck married Mary Pat and graduated from law school. He practiced as a trial attorney for 50 years with his Media, PA firm of Cramp, D'Iorio, McConchie, and Forbes. Buck loved sports, both cheering the professional Philly teams and playing the amateur variety he shared with his family – tennis, running, swimming, sailing, and scuba (and a pretty unsuccessful run at skiing). He was an avid bridge player, achieving the rank of Silver Life Master. Buck also enjoyed music; he cantered at St. Dorothy's church in Drexel Hill and sang in local concerts with the University Glee Club. Later in life, Buck enjoyed studying languages and practicing his guitar (and was the first to confess that "studying" and "practicing" are not necessarily the same as "learning.") He was as honest as they come and generous to the core; a loving man who will be sorely missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday, April 13, 2025 beginning at 2pm to 4pm at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026. His funeral mass will be the following day Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10:30am at Saint Dorothy Church. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
