George "Tom" McCutchen Jr., of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on November 21, 2025. He was 54 years old.
A native of Colorado, Tom was born on February 19, 1971, the first child of Florence and George McCutchen. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1991 and soon after joined the United States Air Force.
Tom's first duty station was Holloman Air Force Base, where he served as a Radioman. Holloman is also where he met his wife of 30 years, Matilda. The two married in Japan at Kadena Air Base in 1995. During his time at Kadena, Tom was a member of the 353rd Special Operations Group.
Over the course of his military career, Tom was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, Kadena Air Base, Keesler Air Force Base, and Cannon Air Force Base, serving in technical communication and engineering roles. After retiring from the Air Force, Tom returned to Cannon Air Force Base as a civilian contractor, where he worked as a radio engineer and later as a network administrator supporting multiple critical mission sets.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed problem-solving and repairing anything he could get his hands on. His interests included cars, watches, computers, and electronics. He was constantly working on projects - whether for his own ambitions or to help friends and family. Always staying busy and dedicated to his responsibilities, he communicated daily with family members and regularly enjoyed gaming with his sister, nephew and coworkers.
Family, friends and coworkers remember Tom as a good man, loving husband, loving father, doting grandfather, dedicated coworker, and proud veteran.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and George Sr. He is survived by his wife, Matilda; his son, NIckolas; daughter, Chelsea; brother, Timothy; sister, Kimberly; two granddaughters, Niyah and Audrey; and nephew, Michael.
