I lived next to the Merrills on Dunstable Road may many years ago. I remember his garden and the chicken coop--and him walking me home to my mother anytime I got to close to either of them. I also remember when he put a brick area outside of his back door. he had me keep walking on it to pack things down. I was probably eight years old. Although I was young, I admired him. No nonesense, hardworking, patriotic and a role model.I haven't seen him in 50 years-he made and impression. Always tough to lose the good guys.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. George was a good neighbor, and
great Dad. I grew up across the street and baby sat for George and Pat. I recall how George
would plow the snow off the pond, so all the kids could ice skate. A truly kind and generous
person. Rest in Peace, George.

Chelmsford has lost a precious gem. George lived every day as a lover of Chelmsford. He will be sorely missed. Our heartfelt thanks for his Military service; his service to the town and Church. To his family: thanks for sharing George over the years with the rest of us. May he rest in Peace in his beloved North Chelmsford.

We will always remember George in his BIG CAMP CHAIR at the
The Hershey auto show and flea market.
Celebrating his birthday with a cupcake, sharing stories with older men that also had served.
Always busy tinkering and helping others that needed tools ,help or advice.
His trailer was a rolling workshop it seemed.
And selling peanuts...he was very good at that !
And George always knew that at 8:00 am the National Anthem would be played and would stand proud. A true patriot and good man.
George, we salute you .
John and Erin Matthews.
