George Philip Messere

George "Phil" Messere, age 79, of Avon died peacefully on August 9.

Phil was the loving son of the late George and Mary (Puopolo) Messere. Phil lived with his parents in Avon center where he loved to spend his days. He enjoyed his routine; walking, chatting, sitting on "his bench", and visiting with friends at the Avon Fire and Police Station, Geri's, Sammy K's, the Avon House of Pizza and St. Michael's church. He considered himself the "Mayor of Avon" and was always proud to wear his Bruins or Patriots gear. After Phil's mom passed, he spent the past five years socializing at the Enriched Adult Day Care Center in Whitman and later Hanover. He enjoyed his time there and will be missed by the staff and his many friends. Phil was the loving brother of the late Gloria and Paul Heerman and doting uncle of Roger and Heather Heerman. He is also survived by loving relatives and friends.

All are cordially invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill College, 320 Washington St., Easton on Thursday, August 14 at 10:00am.

A burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon.
