George James Mitten, beloved husband of Rae Mitten, passed away at Moose Mountain Lodge - Long Term Care, Carlyle, Saskatchewan on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the age of 77 years.
Funeral service will be held from Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Redvers, Saskatchewan, Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00a.m. with Reverend Ronald Andree officiating. Interment will be in Moosomin North Cemetery.
For those who so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Knights of Columbus in memory of George.
George James Mitten was born September 22, 1945, at Moosomin, SK and passed away at Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle, SK, on August 6, 2023, at age 77.
He received his education at Moosomin, Regina's Campion College, and the Regina campus of the University of Saskatchewan, where he received Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. He began his teaching career in Redvers in 1968 and spent 33 years there, teaching primarily history and business education.
George married Rae Mountney and together they raised four children: Samantha, Cherie, Joey, and Bob.
Over the years George served on the church board, recreation board, town council, and hospital board, and was active in the Legion and Knights of Columbus.
George had a keen interest in all things historical and dabbled some in genealogy. He enjoyed spending time at the family's lake property and puttering in his garden.
George was predeceased by his daughter Samantha and his parents George and Monica Flynn Mitten.
He is survived by his wife Rae; children - Cherie Carlson (Tyson) and her children: Preston (Charity), Austin (Su), River (Madi), and Gage; Joey (Michele) and his children Brandon, Keziah, Autumn, and Ivory; Robert and his children: Cash, Scarlett, Stellar, and Jon.
