George Will Morgan, 78, of Andrews, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, in the care of Valley View Rehabilitation Center in Andrews.
His maternal grandparents were Garland Temple Posey who married Willabelle Sandlin Posey, and had a daughter, Sara Ruth. Sara Ruth Posey married Frank McConaughy Morgan at Montevello, Ala., and on April 24, 1947, George Will Morgan, their son was born in Montevello. George lived in Montevello, Ala., during his formative childhood years and then attended McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn., during his high school years.
George absolutely loved coming to Andrews to play with his distant cousins and enjoying his Andrews family. In the 1980s, he and his mother, Sara Ruth, returned to Andrews, N.C., to renovate and live in Sara Ruth's childhood home built in 1912.
George had many loves in life – his most important being his parents' families and his church, Andrews United Methodist Church.
His two sources of employment included a landscape business in Montevello, Ala., (after returning home from McCallie School) and his second was an antique shop in Andrews at his family's historic home called The Front Porch. In conversing with George, he could tell you anything, in great detail, about these two businesses and the items/products with which he dealt.
George also valued community service by planting and keeping up a flowerbed at his church and delivering Home Delivered Meals while enjoying and singing the songs popular during his 1960s teenage years.
In addition to these loves in his life, George loved watching and analyzing the Stock Market, reading histories of past presidents and enjoying the Southern way of life through many trips, reading coffee table books, watching documentaries on television, enjoying family get-togethers and by walking his dog, Buddy, and by walking daily with a friend throughout Andrews to whom he related the story behind every historical house on the trek.
George was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother and father.
Surviving are distant relatives of the Mashburn descent and some from the Posey side of the family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at United Methodist Church in Andrews, N.C., with the Rev. Sara Scruggs presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Andrews United Methodist Church.
