George Nincehelser Obituary

George Donald Nincehelser, son of Loyd Edward and Belva Lydia (Hauptman) Nincehelser, was born July 28, 1939, in Peru, Nebraska. He grew up on the farm near Peru and graduated from Peru Prep. George later attended Peru State College for two years.
George joined the United States Army on April 4, 1960. He received his Honorable discharge at Fort Sam Houston in Texas on May 1, 1962 and returned to the Peru area.
In August,1962, George was united in marriage to Cynthia Jo Wegner in South Dakota. They made their home near Peru and would be blessed with two children, George David and Tiffany Sue.
George farmed all his life, but he took employment with other entities as well. He had worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Missouri River. While working with the Corps he had the opportunity to save a woman's life, for which he received a medal from the government. George also worked with NPPD at Cooper Nuclear Station at Brownville, Nebraska and at the OPPD coal plant near Nebraska City.
George was a member of the Peru Community Church, belonged to the Peru Masonic Lodge #14, and Peru VFW Post #7299 which merged with Auburn American Legion Post #23.
On Friday, December 30, 2022, George passed away at his daughter's home near Peru at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 2 days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son George, brothers Robert, Michael, James, and Edwin and sisters Nancy, Linda, and Bessie.
George is survived by his wife Cynthia; daughter and son-in-law Tiffany and Matt Morse of Peru; grandchildren George, Genevieve (Shayne), Georgia (Arthur), and Lydia; sisters Ethel (Rex) Filmer of Gretna, Verla (Bob) Perry of Northwood, IA; stepsister Janice Rush of Auburn; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be Saturday, January 7, 11:00 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in the Camp Creek Cemetery near Nebraska City. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00.
Memorials are suggested to Peru Rescue Squad.
