George would later move his employment to the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he was a Supervisor and traveled extensively around the country helping veterans in all of their military matters. George retired after fifteen years of service with the Veterans Administration.
George was a sportsman. He loved baseball, fishing, and hunting. He was a longtime member of the Dirty Dozen Fishing and Hunting Club. One of the things he looked forward to and enjoyed, was going on the club's annual fishing and hunting trips around the country.
