George Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home - Hyde Park on Dec. 31, 2025.
Funeral from the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street Hyde Park Tuesday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Precious Blood Church Hyde Park at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Monday evening from 4-7 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, relatives and friends invited. George loved his Hyde Park community and was a proud US Air Force Veteran.

George Frederick Perry, a stalwart pillar of the Hyde Park community and a veteran who served his country with distinction, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Brockton. Born on July 12, 1938, in Boston, MA, George's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to education, community service, and faith.
George, the son of the late John and Margaret (DeLuca) Perry, grew up with a deep sense of family and community. He was a devoted brother to Christina Wright and her late husband James of Plymouth, John Perry and his wife Mary Joe of Hyde Park, and he held fond memories of his late brother Donald Perry, whose wife Mary of Wisconsin survives him. George's role as a loving uncle to Cheryl, Lynda, James, Arlene, Jason, Cory, Matthew, Jared, Eduardo, Marco, Paul, and the late Janet Wright, along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, was a source of great joy and pride in his life.
After graduating from Cathedral High School in Boston, George's thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Lowell, where he earned a Bachelor's degree. His academic journey continued at the Boston State College, where he received a Master's Degree in Education. This foundation paved the way for his remarkable career as a Math Teacher for the Boston Public Schools, where he dedicated over 25 years to enlightening young minds at The Rogers School in Hyde Park, The Theodore Roosevelt Middle School, and The Mary Curley School in Jamaica Plain.
George's love for his Hyde Park community was evident in every facet of his life. A proud US Air Force Veteran, George served as a Medic during the Vietnam Era and was stationed at the Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. In 1965, he was honored as Airman of the Year at the base, a recognition of his exemplary service. His post-military life was characterized by an unwavering commitment to business and community engagement. George was a respected member of the Hyde Park Board of Trade, the Historical Society, and the Fogg Roberts American Legion Post in Hyde Park. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Hyde Park Development Company, where he worked tirelessly to foster growth and prosperity in the area.
George's volunteer work with the Boy Scouts and his active membership at the Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park were reflections of his faith-filled life. As a very proud Catholic, he served as a lector and was always ready to lend a hand in church activities.
Those who knew George describe him as friendly, intelligent, and deeply faith-filled. He was a man who lived his life in service to others, whether through his professional work as an educator, his volunteerism, or his devout religious practice. His legacy is one of compassion, mentorship, and community betterment.
George's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him. As we say farewell to George Frederick Perry, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by enduring contributions to his family, his students, and his community. His memory will be cherished and his example followed for generations to come.

I had the great privilege to know George as both a client and as a man of Faith. And it was in the latter capacity that he made a great impression on me. His concern and care for his fellow man knew no bounds. He was particularly dedicated to helping those most neglected by society. He often took these people in to feed, clothe, and bathe them. For George, they were not society's rejects, they were God's children who needed a helping hand. And he was there to provide it. George often talked of God, and how he was only doing God's work. He looked forward to the day he would be returning to God, and now that day has come. May he rest in heavenly peace.
