George J. Peterson

George Joseph Peterson, 87, of Reisterstown passed away on January 21, 2026, at Carroll Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1939, in Carroll County, Maryland, to the late Floyd and Mamie Peterson. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Darlene Peterson. Also predeceased by brothers Lester, Frank, Floyd, Jr., and Noah Peterson, and sister Alice Beatrice Sprinkle.

He is survived by his daughter Nancy JoAnn Sponsler and her husband Daniel Roland Sponsler; sister Ruby Phillips, and brothers Gilbert and Lyle Peterson; grandchildren C.J. Sponsler and wife Chrissy, Joanie Skolaski and husband Evan, and Kelsie Sponsler; and great-grandchildren Hailey, Logan, Lily, Camden, Adalyn and Jasper. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He served in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC. He retired from WBAL. He was a lifelong member of Arlington Baptist Church in Baltimore where he taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Trustees, Deacons, and Ushered. He also served over 50 years at Baltimore Rescue Mission and Helping Up Mission.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home 11824 Reisterstown Road Reisterstown, MD 21136 on Thursday January 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday January 30th at 11:00 A.M.

Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
