Norman Seitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel P.A. - Westminster on Mar. 17, 2026.
Norman Henry Seitz, Sr., 97, of Westminster, MD, went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2026. Born on August 20, 1928, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Wanda and Henry Seitz.

At just 17 years old, Norman answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy, where he proudly served from 1945 to 1949. After returning home to Baltimore, he began working in construction, building both homes and a life centered around hard work and family.

In 1960, Norman moved his family to Marriottsville after completing the construction of the family's new home. It was there that many memories were made and where Norman's dedication to providing for his family continued to shine.

In 1966, Norman proudly became the owner and operator of Norman's Hess Gas Station, located at 534 Main Street in Reisterstown, MD. The station quickly became a familiar and welcoming place for the community. In the early years, Norman's older children worked alongside their dad, helping run the full-service station and learning the value of hard work firsthand. Norman operated the station with pride and dedication for 45 years, until selling the business and retiring in 2011. For many local families, the holiday season wasn't complete without stopping by Norman's station to pick up a beloved Hess toy truck - a tradition many will fondly remember.

Norman also had a deep commitment to community and fellowship. He was a proud and active member of Ionic Lodge No. 145 A.F. & A.M., where he became a Master Mason in 1967, and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. In addition, he belonged to the Boumi Shriners and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon-Baltimore Forest. Through these organizations, Norman formed lifelong friendships and dedicated himself to helping others.

Above all, Norman will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He took great pride in his family and loved seeing it grow through the generations.

Norman is survived by his daughter, Debbie Pegg and her husband Jimmy of Weaverville NC; his stepdaughters, Rose Cook of Westminster, MD, and Jennie Saville of Stephens City, VA; his devoted companion, Linda Wright of Westminster, MD. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Reilly; his sons, Norman Seitz Jr., Darrell Seitz, and Brian Seitz; his grandson, Jeff Reilly; and his loving companion, Carolyn Neumyer.

Norman lived a long life filled with hard work, service, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10-11am at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Marty Kuchma officiating. Iconic Lodge No. 145 will begin the service.

Interment with military honors will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
