George Proffitt Obituary George Vernon Proffitt, 74, of Rushville, IN, formerly of London, KY passed away January 28, 2025.
George was born November 20, 1950 in London, KY to the late Boyd and Cecil Proffitt. He married Donna "Sue" Bloom and she would precede him in death in 1998. George retired from the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard, serving two tours in Vietnam.
George was a member of Main Street Christian Church, the Rushville American Legion, the Eagles lodge and the Rushville Muskrats. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing poker and just driving around town. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Those missing him are his daughter Autumn (EJ) Basham, of Rushville, IN; his grandchildren Lexi, Gracie and Hailey. George is also survived by his siblings Mae Scalf, Jean Riggs and Ray and Kenneth Proffitt.
In addition to his spouse, George was preceded in death by a baby sister Eva.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory with pastor Chip West officiating. Friends are welcome to visitation from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service. Military honors will be awarded by the Rushville American Legion Honor Guard.
