George James Rabehl, age 86 of Champlin, died peacefully on August 27, 2024. He grew up on a farm near Rochester, MN, and attended Rochester Senior High School where he met his future wife Carol. He attended the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Education. George and Carol were married in 1959 and in 1960 George joined the U.S. Navy and was commissioned as an officer. They moved to four different Naval duty stations on both coasts of the U.S. When he left active service in 1964, they returned to the Twin Cities to raise their family, eventually moving into their home of 50+ years in Champlin. During this time George earned a PhD. in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He took a position in the Osseo School District where he worked in Curriculum Research and Evaluation until he retired in 1997. Carol and George were active members at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka and in their retirement, enjoyed the volunteer opportunities in the church community. They also pursued their love of outdoor activities including gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, skiing and biking. Travel, both domestic and international, also became a valued part of their lives together.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Leonard and Georgia; and his brother, James. George will be deeply missed by his children, Gregory (Hana), Scott (Lori), Lee (Ellen), and Lynn (Keith); grandchildren, Mallory, Mitchell, Nicholas (Celine), Benjamin, Jessica (Gerald), and Hauna; great-grandson, Jaedyn; many other loving family and friends.
