Rodney Gene Fure (May 21, 1940 - August 25, 2025) Rodney Gene Fure passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 85, at his home in Fridley, Minnesota. Born on May 21, 1940, in Clear Lake, Iowa, Rodney was the son of the late LuVerne and Esther Fure. Rodney graduated from Kiester High School in 1958. He had many different jobs after high school including working as a mechanic and managing a pool hall. He worked at American Can Company/Silgan in St. Paul, Minnesota, for over 30 years. His life changed when he trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Subsequently he joined Woodcrest Baptist Church in 1976, where he grew in his faith, found a strong sense of community, and enjoyed many wonderful friendships over the years. He was a faithful member of the church for exactly 49 years as he became a member on August 25, 1976. He faithfully read and studied the Bible, gave to his church, attended services regularly, and enjoyed meeting with his pastor and friends from the church. Rodney loved reading, golfing, dining out, playing games, joking with friends and family, watching sports, and movies. He married the love of his life, Betty, in 1963. He knew she was the one for him from the start and by their third date told her they would be married someday. Together they raised two children. He loved his family and cherished time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Melissa and Matthew (Shannon); his grandchildren, Jack and Ava; his brothers, Darwin (Karen), Doug, and Mark (Jan); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty; parents, LuVerne and Esther; and brothers, Richard, Darrel, and Wendell. A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at Woodcrest Baptist Church, 6875 University Avenue NE, Fridley, Minnesota 55432, on September 6, 2025. The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception for all who would like to attend. Following the reception, a graveside service will be held at Morningside Memorial Gardens Cemetery,11800 University Avenue NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55448.
