Germanton – Mr. George Franklin Ragland, Jr. passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. George was born August 23, 1942, in Stokes County to the late George Franklin Ragland, Sr. and Lorene Jones Ragland.  He worked for RJR Tobacco for 10 years. George loved many things, but traveling with the love of his life of 42 years on their touring bike was a great love.  They traveled as far north as Nova Scotia and as far West as California. Mr. Ragland loved his career as a 13-year veteran in the Winston Salem Police Department as a Motorcycle Officer.  He began his career in the Police Department in 1971 and retired in 1990. George was a big man with a big presence. He would help anybody who needed it, in any way he could. George will be greatly missed by all who know him.

Those eft to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Jeanie Handy Ragland; one son, Brian Ragland; two grandchildren, Keylee Chilton and Ellik Ragland; and two great grandchildren, Kane and Remi Chilton.

A graveside service will be held, 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, at Crestview Memorial Park with Chaplain Colleen Danson officiating. The family requests that the family and friends gather at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service.
