George Brant Randa, age 82 of Cleveland, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Rae Ann Suburban in Westlake, Ohio. He was born January 25, 1943, in Mineola, NY, the only child of the late Elin Brant Randa of Sweden and George John Randa of Denmark.
George 's parents met in New York City, New York where he was raised. As a child, George developed a passion for theater and music. During his time at Hempstead High School on Long Island, he became active acting in school plays and playing the clarinet where he, as a band member, performed for four consecutive years at New York Giants stadium for football games. George experienced a significant life change with the loss of his father, prompting his mother and George to move to Cleveland, OH to be closer to his mother's family. In 1970, George proudly graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College with a Bachelor of Arts in History. His career was primarily in Cleveland as an Auditor in the banking industry.
In his free time, George was very active in the International and local Jaycees during which time he held many posts, including Bicentennial Junior President, working closely with the Chamber of Commerce in Cleveland, two terms as president of the Cleveland local Jaycees plus he traveled internationally as a Representative. Also, George and his mother traveled extensively visiting destinations including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, and France, plus many U.S. states to visit his extended family with whom he worked diligently to stay in touch. New York City was his favorite destination where he liked to catch the latest Broadway shows. George also was a big supporter of the Cleveland sports teams.
During George's last four years, he lived at Rae Ann Suburban in Westlake where he was elected as President of the Residents Council and loved to participate in bingo, attend parties, watch his beloved old movies on TV and read. He was very social throughout his life and people remembered him as very sweet man with an amazing memory. Since George did not have any siblings, he considered his friends his extended family and his church, Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church, where he was a long-term vigorous member and where his ashes will be interred.
A service will be held at the church on October 12, 2025, at 12:45 PM. All are welcome. Memorial donations in George's name should go to Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church, 2230 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44115, https://www.trinitycleveland.org/give/
