George Edward Rasmussen

George Edward Rasmussen (October 10, 1939 – January 11, 2026)

George was the son of the late Edward Christian Rasmussen and Dorothy Robinson Rasmussen and father of Amber Rasmussen, Tenna Rasmussen, and the late Erik Edward Rasmussen. He is survived by his wife, Janice Rasmussen, brothers Jerry and Jeff Rasmussen, and former wife, Marta McKay Rasmussen. As the oldest son, he took his brothers under his wing and paved the way for them at school and in the community.

George graduated from Warren High School where he played football and from Thiel College where he played basketball. He referred to one of the star players as Cisco and to himself as Pancho to note that he was the less-skilled player.

George worked as a hospital administrator in Pittsburgh, PA; Clifton, IL; and Torrance, CA prior to working as an auditor for the federal government. After retirement, he volunteered as a full-time tutor for struggling students in the Alexandria City Public Schools for several years.

He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Pittsburgh teams, Thiel teams, and the Shepherd University football team where he and Janice often celebrated their anniversary. He loved to read mystery novels, had a dry sense of humor, and often used funny descriptive phrases like "He couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper bag" to describe a player in a hitting slump.
