Cecelia Ann Ponce

Cecelia Ann Ponce, 85, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on February 26, 2026.

Cecelia was born on January 9,1941 to William Thomas and Cecelia Magdalene Hoover in Hughestown, Pennsylvania. She was the 4th of 8 children, including 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Cecelia graduated from Hughestown High School in 1958 and Wilkes Barre Business College in 1959. Cecelia moved to the DC area in 1960, where she would remain until her passing.

In 1963, Cecelia met Reyes Ramon Ponce when they were both substitute players in a bowling league through work. They knew from the second they met that they had found their person. They were married on February 12,1966 in Hughestown, PA. Reyes and Cecelia went on to have 3 children, Reyes Jr. (1966), Paul (1968), and Cecelia Elena (1974).

Cecelia was a loving mother who lived to watch her children and husband shine. She was a constant supporter and cheerleader for everyone she loved. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved nothing more than the children and babies in her life- she was the purest example of someone who was meant to be a mother. She was an accomplished administrative assistant and spent over 25 years working in that capacity at the Central Intelligence Agency.

Cecelia was predeceased by her husband Reyes; her parents, William and Cecelia Hoover; her sisters Patricia, Constance, and Mary; and her brothers William, Brian, Leonard, and Kevin. She is survived by her children Reyes Jr., Paul, and Cecelia Elena and her grandchildren Luke and Sarah Ponce.

Viewings will be held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel on March 19th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church on March 20th at 10:30 am with burial service to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park at 12 pm.
