George J. Renwick Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Charlee Renwick (née Lawrence); his daughters, Shannan (Jim, Jr.) Uteg and Tammy (Tom) Byers; and his cherished grandchildren, Jimmy (Brianna) Uteg III, Krystal (Erik) Gavert, Christina Byers, James Byers, and Michael Byers. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Gordon (Desiree) Renwick, Roseann (Larry) Cooper, and David Renwick; his brother-in-law, Lyndal (Ginger) Houchens, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George J. Renwick Sr. and Pearl Wood (née Lange); his brother, Bruce Renwick; and his nephew, Marcus Renwick.

Born and raised in Chicago until the age of five, George's family then moved to Frankfort, IL. While attending Lincoln-Way High School, George fell in love with Charlee and they were married on August 31, 1968. They would go on to raise their family in the Lincoln-Way area and stay nearby for the rest of George’s life. From a young age, he developed a strong work ethic on local farms, honing his natural problem-solving skills, which became one of his defining traits. Starting as a driver for construction companies, primarily working in asphalt, George eventually transitioned into the petroleum industry, where he quickly rose through the ranks. Known for always being the “man with a plan,” George often remarked, “It always seemed like a big farm to me. Every night brought a different challenge, and I loved figuring out how to make it work.” After retiring, George took immense joy in attending his grandchildren’s many activities, always their proud and supportive grandfather. His curiosity and love for learning never diminished. Whether tinkering in his garage or solving everyday problems, he eagerly shared his knowledge with those around him, always happy to pass on his wisdom and skills.
