George Ringer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spangler Mortuary - Los Altos Chapel on Jan. 7, 2026.
George Waters Ringer put the final exclamation point on his book of life on December 16, 2025. 88 years young, George lived a life full of adventure. He loved the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends-preferably with a good scotch in hand. George lived his life with a contagious enthusiasm, was the life of the party, and made an impression on all who knew him.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on December 1, 1937, George spent most of his childhood in Freeport, NY. But his adventurous spirit was sparked when an ROTC Navy scholarship to the University of Washington brought him to the Pacific Northwest, site unseen. Fast forward some years that included a college degree, a few years of naval duty, the meeting of his future wife Mary, and a EE Masters from the University of Wisconsin and his adventurous spirit struck again-this time sending George and Mary to the California Bay Area. They never looked back.

George spent the majority of his career at Lockheed Martin as a program engineer, but his true passions lay in backpacking the Sierra mountains, running the trails of the California foothills, perfecting un-hittable spins on balls on the tennis courts, and spending time with Mary and his three children. Once the children "launched" more travel adventures ensued with Mary.

After the passing of Mary in 2010, George's 2 nd phase of life kicked off with cherished partner Linda Piersol. With Linda, George continued to expand his repertoire of sports (picking up a pickleball racket) and of travel destinations-whether an overseas adventures, a Hawaiian getaway, or jumping state lines to cheer from the sidelines for various grandchildren activities. George lived a life without regret, embraced a "glass half-full" mentality, and charged through all the ups and downs life hands one with the catchphrase, "Onward!"

Though preceded in death by his wife Mary and brother John, George will be deeply missed by those who survive him: partner Linda; children Matt (Heidi), Sara (Jay), and Kristen (Steve); grandchildren Nyah, Makena, Braeden, Joslyn, Devyn, and Camden; and sister RuthAnn.
