Phillip Ringer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - Hickey Chapel on Jan. 23, 2026.
Phillip Allen Ringer, age 89, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in South Bend. He was born on October 4, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Donald E. Ringer and H. Louise (Hopper) Ringer.

Phillip was united in marriage to the love of his life, Annette (VanBlarcom) Ringer, on July 5, 1968, in Long Beach, California. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2021.

He is survived by his four children: Michael Allen (Sheila) Ringer of Mishawaka, Indiana; Raymond Allen (Jill) Ringer of Chesapeake, Virginia; Colleen Ann Caver of Atlanta, Texas; and Laura Renee (Delbert) Martin of Livingston, Louisiana. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, his niece and nephew James (Jennifer) Ringer of Dublin, Ohio; his brother Eddie W. (Esther) Ringer of Redlands, California; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Ringer of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Phillip dedicated his professional life to many lines of work, including parts delivery for Zolman Tire, pharmaceutical granulation, working as a mechanic, serving as a milkman, and most notably owning and operating Ringer's Service Center (Amoco) for 18 years. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others were evident in everything he did.

A man of deep faith, Phillip loved listening to Gaither Gospel music, talking about Jesus, and helping people in any way he could. He especially enjoyed driving others to church on the bus, living out his calling as a true servant of God. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Twin City Baptist Church, Mishawaka, Indiana, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Indiana, with military honors at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to Twin City Baptist Church.
