I was taking a trip down Memory Ln and I found this. George was my art teacher in Franklin back in 74-79. He was a funny guy and inspired us to follow our passion. I would have liked to have known him as an adult, but I never forgot him and appreciated what he shared with us. Thanks George!!

Exactly 50 years have passed since we first met as teachers at Franklin High School in 1969. I remember he designed an avant-garde art video performance for both parents and students and asked me to assist in making the projector light flicker as art images passed on a large screen. He was organized, fastidious, and prompt which was reflected in his work as a teacher, running a chimney sweep business and his art studio in the basement of the house.
He and his first wife were invited to our wedding in 1971 in Connecticut. But they missed the wedding ceremony by an hour arriving by motorcycle George loved motorcycles.
We fondly remember George having well-attended Christmas parties at the Tucker Mt. house. One year he offered homemade white-lightening made from apples which I could not drink. He demonstrated the alcohol percentage of the drink by throwing some of it in the fireplace which caused instant ignition.
The last time we met was earlier this year for two impromptu and pleasant morning breakfast visits. He updated us on his art work-in-progress and showed us his brushes and other artist tools.
George was an amazing water-color artist. His work is displayed in his home as well as in local homes and recently at a Center for the Arts Micro Gallery at the Bar Harbor Bank in New London, along with larger acrylic oil paintings. It was a treat to see others enjoy his art.
George was also a brilliant player of poker and chess. I always lost a game of chess to him except for the very last one years ago. I wish George and I could have had one follow-up chess game.
In the 1970s after he built the house on Tucker Mt. George mentioned how he loved walking downs dirt roads with grass growing in the middle and that if he lived to 60 he would feel accomplished. George, you were a high achiever and did better at achieving the goals you laid out.
We miss George for all he did as an artist, husband and friend.

George brought into the world three wonderful children. We have fond memories of them on Tucker Mt. I will always smile at the memory of George begrudgingly dancing around the May pole on May Day. You were an amazing watercolorist. Rest in peace.
