George Rollin "Joe Boy" Rothrock Jr.

1940 - 2025

George Rollin Rothrock, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025.

George - known by many as "Joe Boy" - was born on Dec. 10, 1940, and was the son of George "Joe" and Betty Rothrock.

In 1959, he married Janie Shimmel of Gearhartville. George and Janie were married for more than 65 years and resided in Wallaceton, where their home was always filled with family and laughter. Janie preceded George in death on Nov. 12, 2024.

Before retiring in 2000, George was employed at PennDOT for more than three decades. He worked diligently with the Wallaceton Volunteer Fire Company since its inception and was also a deacon at the Wallaceton Church of God. George was known as a relentless worker - always staying busy, but never too busy to help others. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons, building craft projects for his daughters and granddaughters, plowing snow for his neighbors, and working in his garage.

He is survived by his six children: Christle Showers; Joseph and wife Pam of Wallaceton; Douglas and wife Mona of Bigler; Georganne Zitsch and husband Ken of Lanse; Missie Parks and husband Dave of Baden; and Mindie Scott and husband Matt of Wallaceton.

George is also survived by his and Janie's 19 grandchildren; Mandie Shaw and husband Brad, Prestyn Showers and wife Chelsea, Aaron Rothrock and wife Dawn, Whitnie Socie and husband Jason, Josiah Shimmel and companion Mary, Allan Shimmel and wife Mariah, Jacob Scott and wife Sarah, Nathan Rothrock and wife Evelyn, Daityn Rothrock and wife Jade, Rachel Carolus and husband Alex, Isaac Rothrock and wife Cheyenne, Joel Parks and companion Briana, Kelley Lanning and husband Nate, Julie Stodart and husband Drew, Noah Scott and fiancée Taylor, Jonathan Scott, and Kaylianne, Simeon, and Kendra Zitsch.

Additionally, George is survived by their 22 great-grandchildren; Scott, Sean, and Katie Shaw, Emmalyn, Brock, and Sadie Showers, Brody and Gavin Rothrock, Tobi, Libbi, Tucker, and Jillian Socie, Mia, Micah, and Luke Shimmel, Jedidiah and Jesse Scott, Asher, Judah, and Levitt Rothrock, and Desmond and Anna Rothrock.

George is also survived by his brother, Ed, of Morrisdale. In addition to his wife Janie, George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and his son-in-law, Ken Shimmel.

George's family would like to thank his friends and neighbors Paul, Kevin, Larry, and Harry for always being there for him. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Clearfield Hospital for the excellent care they provided.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory in Clearfield.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 17 from 4-7 p.m. There will also be a viewing from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. with eulogy by grandson, Daityn Rothrock.

Burial will be at Reidy Cemetery in Wallaceton.
