George Rudisill Obituary

George Albert Rudisill

February 5, 1937 - September 4, 2025

Charlotte, North Carolina - Born on February 5, 1937, Charlotte native George Albert Rudisill, son of Jennings Bryan Rudisill and Sara Austin Rudisill, died on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

George, a graduate of Old Central High School and North Carolina State, devoted 45 years to a successful career at W.K. Hile Co., where he served as the Vice President of Sales and on the Board of Directors. He was instrumental in automating the Tobaccoville facility for R.J. Reynolds. In retirement, George deeply valued the lasting friendships he had built with many of his customers.

George was a faithful member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church for 65 years, where he served as a Deacon and a Youth Advisor. He was a volunteer for Friendship Trays and a member of The Piedmont Club and Goodfellows. George co-founded Myers Park Trinity Little League Girls Softball and was a coach for many years.

An avid golfer, George was a member of Charlotte Country Club for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed every round of golf he played there with friends and family. He considered himself very fortunate to have played at Augusta National, Pebble Beach and the great courses of Scotland. He also had the ultimate achievement of a hole in one! His other lifelong hobbies included bird hunting and fly fishing.

Most of all, George loved people. He never met a stranger and treasured his longtime relationships and made a lasting impression on the many lives he touched. He was welcoming to all and had a sparkle that will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Cypress of Charlotte Stewart Health Center, the ICU staff at Atrium Health Mercy and the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.

George is survived by his wife, Jane Pierce Arthurs Rudisill of nearly 65 years; his children, George Albert Rudisill, Jr. (Anna), Mary Rudisill Anderson (Brian); and his cherished grandsons; William Holland Anderson, Benjamin Rudisill Anderson and George Albert Rudisill III (Tripp), who affectionately referred to George as 'Buddy'. Buddy was very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His legacy of love will live on through them. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jeanne Chaplin Rudisill of Lookout Mountain, TN, and Nancy Arthurs Caudle of Cornelius, NC, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. George was preceded in death by his brother, J. B. (Buck) Rudisill, Jr. of Lookout Mountain, TN and sister, Jane Rudisill Coates of Berlin, MD. He created countless memories at his family home in Sunset Beach, NC, with the most cherished being the annual Rudisill Family Reunions.

There will be a celebration of George's extraordinary life at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed at: https://myersparkpres.org/live/ for those unable to attend in person.

I was happy to know Mr. Rudisill and his family. I had the pleasure of meeting Jane and Mary while working at Stewart Health Center at The Cypress! Every time he went past my desk he would tell me a joke and make me laugh. I wish Mary and Jane comfort in the memories they have. Much love.

So sorry to hear about George. He was a faithful volunteer at 1st Pres. Loaves and Fishes (now Nourish Up) food pantry. May peace be with the family at this sad time.
