George Rutledge Obituary
May 18, 1941 to July 1, 2023
Mr. George Washington Rutledge, Jr., age 82, of Sandy Run Road, passed away at the Hampton Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Rutledge was the son of the late Josephine Furick Rutledge and George Washington Rutledge, Sr.
He was married to Ann Rutledge for 44 years. Mr. Rutledge was a security guard for many years until his health got him down. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his seven children, Joanne Madias (Nicholas) of Allendale, SC, John Rutledge of Grays, SC, Mary Crews and Larry Prince of Nixville, SC, Edward Rutledge (Toni Trent) of Beaufort, SC, Amanda Tuten (Chip) of Furman, SC, Donna Fortnes (Mike) of Savannah, GA, Christina Rutledge of the home, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Josephine Rutledge, two brothers, James Spires and John Rutledge, four sisters, Mary Parker, Thelma Stanfield, Minnie Lou Harley, Elizabeth Lee, and a granddaughter, Tiffany Tuten.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
