George Andrew Salinovich Jr. passed away on October 20, 2025 at his home in Milton. He was 71 years old. George was born to the late George and Irene Lyons Salinovich on March 8, 1954.
George grew up in Newburgh. He overcame many obstacles with an arthritic condition that would paralyze him for 1 month out of the year for 12 years. He always was fond of his Jackson Avenue days with his siblings and family. He then left Newburgh for Marlboro,and was a star athlete. He was a top athlete in New York State in football, basketball and track. He gave up many scholarships to raise a family. He worked many hard years as a laborer, shop steward and delegate in the Local Union 104. He retired in 1993. He worked as a Youth Counselor for DFY where he was beloved by both coworkers and residents. He then became the Town of Marlboro Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer in 2013. He was a member of NYS BOC and former member of the Milton Engine Co.
In 1989 he married his beloved wife, Kim Fremgen Salinovich who survives him and loved him all her life. They made their life together and loved each other tremendously. Other than their home, George's pet project was the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy in Newburgh. George was a Cursillo De Colores. Everyone who knew George and his infectious smile, good humor and outstanding kindness loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kim, his mother-in-law Frances Fremgen Biancardi, sister- in -law Karen, sisters; Barbara and Stacy. He had 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
He is survived by a huge host of nieces, nephews (NOGS nieces and nephews of God) and huge extended family.
George was predeceased by his parents, sister Donna and brother Gary and day-old grandchild. Also, aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dogs; Bear, Sassy and Simba.
Calling hours will be Sunday, October 26th from 1pm-6pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro.
A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday morning at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, 1209 Route 9W, Marlboro where he was a proud usher for a few years.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro.
In lieu of flowers, please honor George by a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a local SPCA or the charity of your choice.
