He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hedwig; grandchildren, baby Lucas and baby Cody; his siblings, Arnold (Hilda) Schweiss, Florence (Ivan) Kotten, Silverius (Bernice), and Leona (Aloysius) Mathiowetz.

George was born on June 5, 1935, in Renville County, Minnesota, to Joseph and Hedwig (Huhn) Schweiss. He was raised in Gibbon and attended Gibbon Public School, graduating in 1952.

On May 8, 1954, George was united in marriage to Doris Wiedl at St. Mary's Church in New Ulm. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and community, sharing nearly 72 cherished years together.

George dedicated much of his working life to serving others. He worked at the Citizens State Bank/Minnwest Bank in Gibbon for more than 50 years and later at Target and The Dollar Store, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many.

A lifelong member of St. Willibrord Catholic Church in Gibbon, George was active in church life, including singing in the church choir for many years. In addition, he served as commentator and song-leader. In his spare time, he also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and participating in craft shows. George found joy in staying busy; creating with his hands, playing cards and cribbage, and spending time with those he loved.

George will be remembered for his steady presence, strong faith, dedication to family, and the kindness he showed to those around him. His legacy lives on in the generations who were blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Blessed be his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in honor of George to Allina Hospice or Cedar Heart Homes in Franklin, Minnesota, whose compassionate care and support meant so much during a difficult time.
