I just posted a picture of mom. It was one taken right before one of her trips to see dad. She spent just about every day with dad for over 10 months. He didn't always talk much but that didn't keep her from sitting with him for hours, day after day. Helping him out or just holding his hand. I know hard it was for her to see him like he was, especially the last month. I had a very hard time myself seeing my dad this way and feeling so helpless. Now she has a bird cage in the kitchen with birds they had collected and a picture of dad beside it. We light the candle next to it every night and when she goes to bed she says "Goodnight George". Having her here with us makes us feel a little closer to dad. And I've discovered that my mom is one brave lady. Love you dad and we promise to take good care of mom always

I could go on for hours about this man I call Grampa. He was a hero to our Country and our family, Always will be! He was a man among men. Selfless, loving and devoted! All who have known him are lucky. Lucky because of having the opportunity to know and see what a MAN truly is. He built generations of family with our Granny. Even in this last year which was tough on everyone, especially him. One thing sticks out strong. When the family would be at the nursing home visiting , the nurses would come in and ask Grampa if he needed anything.... his response was ALWAYS.. "EVERYTHING I NEED IS RIGHT HERE IN THIS ROOM" Grampa will never be gone from our hearts or minds. I love you so much Grampa. Thank you for everything you've done for me
