George L. Secor Jr.

SECOR. George L. Secor, Jr., 92, of Plantsville, beloved husband of Bettie (Harris) Secor passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at Summit at Plantsville. Born July 10, 1924 in Hartford, son of the late George L Secor, Sr. and Carrie (Frasier) Secor, he lived in West Hartford before moving to Simsbury in 1987 and then to Plantsville last year. As a young man George served his country proudly during WWII with the U.S. Army, he was with the 19 13th Aviation Engineers and spent 20 months in the Pacific and earned 5 battle stars during that time. Before retiring he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 35 years. He enjoyed gardening but most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his wife Bettie, he is survived by a son, Thomas G. Secor and his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Carol Jean Howley and her husband, Bob; Patricia Joanne Nielsen and Robin Rae Tiede and her husband, Art; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother and five sisters. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017, 7:00 PM, at Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. Burial with military honors will be Friday, March 3, 2017, 1:00 PM, in CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Warriors, P.O.
