George was born on May 20, 1951 to the late Ollie Houston and Bessie Shaw. He lived his life with a heart set on Christ and had a deep desire for everyone he met to know the Lord. His ministry was more than a calling-it was a daily walk of faith. George served in pastoral ministry for 44 years, most recently as the pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Liberty, AL. He had a special way of making everyone feel valued and loved, reflecting the compassion of Christ. He was not only a pastor to his congregation but also a friend and mentor, often visiting the sick and broken hearted and praying with those in need.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Shaw; daughters, Amy Lucas (Joey) and Kelly Lowery (David); his son, Timothy Shaw (Rebecca); and his grandchildren, Kade Lucas, Hunter Lowery, Arlie Lucas, Houston Lowery, Riley Lucas, Olivia Lucas, Heidi Lowery, Anna Kate Shaw, Emmie Lucas, and Gracie Leigh Shaw. He is also survived by his sister, Etoy Lawrence (Fred); his brother, Homer Shaw (Sara); and his sister in law, Minnie Shaw Aldridge. He prayed daily for each of them to walk faithfully with the Lord.

George served as pastor at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Liberty, AL, from 1986 to the present and at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in
Reform, AL, from 1982 to 1986. He was ordained at Coal Fire Baptist Church in 1982. His ministry was marked by compassion, humility, and a lifelong devotion to sharing the Gospel.
George loved his family deeply. He found great joy in being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was always proud of each one of them.
