George Shoemaker Obituary
October 25, 1941 – January 21, 2026
George "Bud" E Shoemaker, 84 of Tylertown, MS passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was born Saturday, October 25, 1941 in Walthall Co., MS to the late George and Grace Popwell Shoemaker. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Pittman Shoemaker, brother, Joe Shoemaker, and sister, Fannie Brown.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Tylertown II Cemetery. Coach Jason Johnson will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shoemaker worked in the oilfield for 33 years retiring from Chevron in 1999. He enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his plants, flowers, and mowing. Bud and his wife had cross-pollinated day lilies and made a few new breeds they were able to name. He made sure his yard was always immaculate. Bud was a collector of all things including cats from around the neighborhood. Mr. Shoemaker loved the Lord and didn't mind telling others about him including strangers. He would read through the Bible every year and then start over the next year just to keep it fresh in his mind.
Survivors include his son, Darby Shoemaker (Susan); daughters, Marcy Johnson (Jason) and Joey Smith (Michael); sister, Patsy Brumfield; along with a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be John McDonald, Bentley Brumfield, James Alford, Duke St. Ores, Trenton St. Ores, and Malachi St. Ores.
