G.C. "Three" Blake, III

October 4, 1964 – February 1, 2026

G. C. "Three" Blake, III was born on October 4, 1964 to Clinton Blake, Jr and Sylvia Williams Blake in Bogalusa, LA. He passed from this life on February 1, 2026 after a 2 year battle with cancer. He lived in Varnado, Louisiana for the first 6 years of his life. After the death of his father in 1969, his mother married Allen Johnson of Tylertown, MS and they moved there in 1970.

Three attended Walthall Academy in Tylertown during his childhood and teen years. He was an honor student and a 3 sport athlete during his school days. After graduating in 1982, he attended Southwest MS Junior College completing his degree there in 1984.

At the young age of 19, Three became a store manager for Hudson's Salvage Center in Columbia, MS. He then transferred as manager for stores in Bogalusa, LA; Moss Point, MS; and Gulfport, MS. In 1986, he left Hudson's to attend college at the University of Southern MS in Hattiesburg, MS. While at USM, he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He completed his degree in 1989.

In 1990, he and his brother, Jim, started to pursue their dream of drag racing. Their dragster, tuned by Three and driven by Jim, won ET-Bracket racing championship at State Capital Dragway in Baton Rouge, LA. They then competed in ET-Bracket Racing Finals at Dallas where the team won Best Appearing Car and Team. Three was hired to work with Michael Brotherton Top Fuel Dragster and raced on the NHRA Circuit for a year.

In 1991, Three returned to Tylertown to build a Top Fuel Funny Car with Jim. In the shop with their father, Allen, they prepared to compete at match races and on the NHRA Circuit as the Wildside Racing/Blake Motorsports Funny Car from 1993 through 1998. In 1999, Three joined Gary Densham Racing Top Fuel Funny Car team as a crewman. During his time traveling the US racing, he met many people who became friends and made numerous memories of a lifetime. Through those friendships, he was able to travel in Australia for a month before returning to Tylertown. He went to work for Lowe's in 1999 as an assistant manager for nine years, but never lost his love of racing.

Three loved deep sea fishing . He spent a lot of time at the family camp at La France, near Waveland, MS before Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In 2009, his son Dallion was born and his life truly began. His world revolved around him and being involved in all his activities. Three and Dallion moved to Orange Beach, AL in 2017 where they could enjoy the beach and gulf anytime they wanted. While in Orange Beach, he was a boat broker and helped coach youth sports in which Dallion was involved. They also became members of Summerdale Church of Christ in Foley.

Three was born into racing and working on cars. His dad, Clint, began his training before he could walk or talk. He would take Three with him to the shop. His first quarter-mile in a race car, at less than 3 years of age, was in front of their house on a strip of Seal Cemetery Road in the '64 Dodge 426 Hemi Aluminum car driven by his dad, Clint. After Clint's death, his father, Allen, continued the training and love of racing. He and his brother were supported by both Allen and Sylvia in the many racing endeavors they had.

Three was preceded in death by his fathers, Clint Blake Jr. and Allen Johnson; and his grandparents Rutheline and G. Clinton Blake, Sr. of Varnado, LA; Dorothy and James M. Williams of Bogalusa, LA; and Pauline and Buford Johnson of Tylertown, MS.

He is survived by his son, Dallion James Blake; mother, Sylvia Blake Johnson; brother, Jim Blake and wife Terri; sister, Anna Platt and husband, Brad; nephews, Drew Blake and wife Brandi, and Colby Blake; nieces, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Madelyn Platt; and a great-niece, Brie Blake; and a special aunt Jean Slaughter Brown. He leaves many other family, friends and dear friends to cherish his memory.
