Taylor Funeral Homes - GibsonTaylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. George Byron Snider, Sr., age 72 of Highway 102 West in Gibson, who died Tuesday morning, November 18, in the Piedmont Healthcare of Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Mr. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the services in the family plot at Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell. Men serving as pallbearers will be Lee Snider, Jeremy Snider, Jason Daniel, Phillip Marchman, Joshua Marchman, and George Lavender. Trace Daniel and Weston Snider will serve as honorary pallbearers.
A native of Glascock County, Byron was a son of the late George Ernest Snider and Madge Walden Marchman and was a 1972 graduate of Glascock County School. He had worked for the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville for 34 years in the housing office. Byron loved to just piddle and work in his garden and was a barbeque master, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents, son George Byron Snider, Jr., 2 grandsons, Chase Daniel and Wells Snider, sister Margaret Lavender, and is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Diane Snider, of Gibson, daughter, Cassie Daniel (Jason) of Forsyth, sons, Lee Snider (Kristin) of Milledgeville, and Jeremy Snider of Milledgeville, brother Harold Marchman, of Milledgeville, 7 grandchildren, Trace Daniel, Sawyer Daniel, Weston Snider, Waylon Snider, Whitman Snider, Cage Snider, & Madelyn Snider, several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Saturday morning at the funeral home.
