Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Michael E. Redfern age 66 (almost 67) who died Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2025, at his home in Edgehill.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Mark Kent and Rev. Ronnie Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Usry, Ricky Todd, Charles Roberts, Roy Brookins, Clay Gumby, Leroy King, Frankie Dixon and Michael Smith.
Michael was born on November 17, 1958, the son of the late Macon Emory Redfern and Maxie Walden Redfern, and was a lifelong resident of Edgehill. He had worked for many years logging with Michael and Wayne Smith Logging. Michael loved gardening, being on his John Deere tractor, and sharing his vegetable bounty with his neighbors and friends. He also loved to fish. He was very active in his church that he loved, Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church. His greatest pastime was spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Redfern was preceded in death by his parents and 2 infant brothers, and is survived by wife of 28 years Laura J. Redfern, sons, Mike Redfern, Jr., and Glyn Thomas (Michelle), grandson, Sullivan Thomas, granddaughters, Anna Williams and Emma Williams, sister, Judy Dixon, special cousins, Angela Lamb Barrow, and Roy Brookins, his church family and many life-long friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
