George Sousa Obituary
September 22, 1954 – November 27, 2025
George Manuel Sousa, 71, son of the late Antonio Nascimento Sousa and Regina Freitas Sousa, passed away on November 27, 2025. He was born in Morros Das Lajes, Flores, Azores. George came to the United States at the age of 7 and settled in California with his family. George attended school in California and Lowell, Massachusetts before returning back to the valley. After a short stint working with his father at Gallo Vineyard, Inc. he obtained his class A license and then began his 30 plus year career in trucking.
George enjoyed camping and fishing. At home he enjoyed listening to oldies and country music. He told the funniest stories and had the room laughing. His laugh was contagious and he could always put a smile on your face.
George is survived by his children Shelley Sousa of Manteca; stepson Jerry Decicco of Stockton; siblings Maria Adilia Narciso, Maria Natercia Tilton, Diane (Joe) Alves and Joanne Azevedo. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacalyn Sousa; siblings Armenio Sousa and Benilde Sousa.
Memorial contributions can be made in George's memory to American Cancer Society.
Rosary and funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 12:00p.m. with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
