George Steadman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home - Morristown on Dec. 9, 2025.
Steadman, George Franklin, 57, of Whitesburg, TN left to his Heavenly home on Saturday, December 6, 2025. George started his love for farming and tractors at a young age. He was proud of his Whitesburg hometown. He was saved during Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church at a young age. During his youth, he played basketball from elementary until college days. He was active in 4-H achieving many awards including state Petroleum Power winner and the VolState award. FFA held a special place in his heart. He could still recite the FFA Creed like it was yesterday. He received Star Farmer, State Farmer Degree and the American Farmer Degree during his high school years. He was a proud member of the Class of 1986 Morristown East Hurricanes. His senior year, he was recognized for his 95.7% foul shot record. He attended Walter's State Community College where he was an Agriculture Business major and played 2 years for the Senators with Coach Bill Carlyle. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for 2 years and lacked 12 hours graduating with his bachelor's degree when he came home to become a partner with his parents on the family dairy farm. If asked he would tell you, "The cows won't ask me for my degree." Farming was his love, but he lived to tractor pull. If you knew him, you knew. His knowledge was admirable. He could be heard announcing pulls all across the south. He held a deep love for Oliver tractors. He served on the Hamblen County Farm Bureau Board, Young Farmers & Ranchers State Committee and was the Hamblen County Outstanding Young Farmer 3 different times. He became well known as Uncle George by his involvement with his nephews or Coach George by the younger generations while coaching Upward or Recreation league basketball. He currently managed Shadowland Farms of Bulls Gap, TN and was a member of First Baptist Church, Morristown.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Anna Frank Steadman; Grandparents: Frank & Pearl Litz and G.K. & Myrtle Steadman.

Left to honor his memory are his sister Carla Steadman Cullip and husband Eugene; Nephews: Samuel Eugene and Daniel Kirk; Uncle: Wayne Litz and wife Kim; Aunt: Rebecca Litz Ramsey and husband Roy; Many dear cousins, friends, farming and tractor pulling families. In lieu of flowerers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Morristown, Ag in the Classroom, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of one's choice.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Morristown in the Legacy Chapel from 1pm – 4pm with tractor processional to Jarnigan Cemetery for a graveside service.
