Scott was born in Boston MA, The third child of Catherine (nee O'Keefe) and George H. Stoner Jr.

He spent his childhood in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. As a teenager he competed in Motocross events across New England. This began his lifelong fascination of mechanical engineering. He owned several welding and machine businesses on Cape Ann MA including "Stoner Welding Company" and "Sunset Hill Machine Design Inc.". Even in his retirement his ideas and tinkering never stopped, He was always interested and available to help on projects.

Scott moved to Portsmouth NH in 1997 and emailed family daily weather updates, backyard wildlife sightings and news from his favorite morning coffee spot Caffe Kilim. He made friends in Portsmouth that he cherished for the rest of his life.

In addition to all things mechanical, Scott's interest was in "good food" and was a crock-pot aficionado and the proud author of "The Curmudgeon's Guide to Cooking" cookbook.

Scott will be missed for his generous nature, sense of humor, his rebellious attitude and unique storytelling. He will forever affectionately be remembered by his family as "Grumpy Uncle Scott" as per his email signature. He is survived by his Sister Daryl Stoner and niece Catherine von Rauch of Salem MA, His Niece Kim Anderson and husband Ian Anderson of Hope Valley RI, along with a grandnephew and niece Roland and Elizabeth Anderson.
