George Joseph Streeter, of Palm Bay, Florida, 87, adored father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather and wonderful, wonderful friend passed away peacefully, July 4, 2025 at Palm Bay Hospital after a courageous battle with COPD. He was predeceased by his parents, LeRoy and Helen (Polly) Streeter; stepson, Eric Kemmler (Dorothy); and beloved wife, Ida Beatrice (Joy) Watts Streeter. Survivors include his son, David Streeter; daughter, Nancy Streeter; stepdaughter, Gretchen Elfand (Sam); stepsons, Hansel Kemmler (Barbara) and Kirk Kemmler (Debra); granddaughters, Stephanie Schoenberg (Scott), January Carmalt (David) and Jacqueline Fowler (Patrick); great-grandchildren, Michael, Spencer and Zoey Schoenberg, Ethan and Tommy Carmalt, Willie and Georgie Fowler; and so many other loving relatives.

George was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 4, 1938 and spent his childhood summers at a relative's farm upstate. There was where his love for animals began. He was a true Dr. Doolittle, as animals always gravitated toward him, even wildlife. He was a long-time resident of Palm Beach and Melbourne, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia and considered himself a Southerner at heart. George was so proud to be a veteran and was in active service in the Navy for four years, where he spent all of his duty out to sea in the North Atlantic, down the east coast and in the Caribbean on the destroyer escort U.S.S. Vandivier (DER-540), honorably discharged as Machinist's Mate 3 (MM3) and then four years in the reserve. He was a fiercely patriotic man who loved this country and our flag.

He was a glazier for most of his career, at times hanging off 30+ story skyscrapers in Atlanta. He was also a general contractor, licensed in Florida and Georgia, and oversaw commercial projects. George was an extremely skilled craftsman who created beautiful items and could build anything. He was a very avid and successful gardener who so enjoyed working in the soil.

The family would like to thank all of Palm Bay Hospital 2nd floor PCU staff for their expert care and tireless compassion and for a peaceful and dignified passing, and the staff of Melbourne Terrace Rehabilitation Center who worked endlessly to bring George back to strength.

No funeral services are planned. Interment will take place at a later date in the Watts Family Cemetery in Loudon County, Tennessee. If planning a donation in memory of George please consider: Shriners Children's Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation:.
