Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his son, George Jr (Nuck) and his wife Debbie; Grandson, Colton Sullivan and wife Madalyn; his great Grandson, Wilder Sullivan; A Special Niece, Trudy DeMao and husband Mike; Great Nephew Michael DeMao; his brothers, Frank Sullivan, Leroy Sullivan, and John Sullivan; His sister-in-law, Charlotte Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Evalee Sullivan, parents Doyle B and Helen Sullivan, and brothers – Mike, Harry and Will Sullivan.

Garland loved his God and his family. Quiet spoken and a heart of gold, he was always willing to help in any situation. Born in Lynchburg VA, he and his family moved to Cumberland VA. He proudly served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Corporal. He and his wife Evalee were married in Cumberland and moved to Goochland to make their home and raise Nuck.

He served as deacon at Smyrna Baptist Church and always loved getting up at 3:00 am to help cook breakfast for Easter Sunrise Service. Garland retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections and enjoyed working his garden and tinkering in his shop. Pa loved his boys Colton and Michael and was so proud of them. He was so excited to have his first great grandson, Wilder. The last three years, he enjoyed spending time riding in the gator and checking cows with Nuck and basking in the warmth of the sun in the shop waving to everyone that came by.

A memorial service will be held in November at Smyrna Baptist Church and details will be shared once completed.

He is in the care of Norman Funeral Chapel.
