George Edward Trueblood, 86 years old of Newport News, went home to be with the Lord on June 4th, 2025, with family by his side.
He was born on February 18th, 1939, in Weeksville, NC to the late George W. Trueblood and Mary Sawyer Trueblood.
George is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret, his sister, Carolyn Pietrzak (David); his children, Dwayne Trueblood (Tracy) and Paula Wright (Jack); and 5 grandchildren, Christopher Trueblood (deceased), Allyn Trueblood (Amrita), Shawn Trueblood (Melissa), Hannah Trueblood and Travis Wright (Shandi). He also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren: Paisley Trueblood, Aria Trueblood, Millie Trueblood, Remi Trueblood, Sega Trueblood, Nellie Trueblood, Simmi Trueblood, Charlie Trueblood, Adalene Wright and Vernon Wright.
He was a member of World Outreach Worship Center and enjoyed fun and fellowship with many of the other members.
George served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years before dedicating 40 years of service to Newport News Shipbuilding. He greatly enjoyed staying connected with former coworkers during their regular retiree breakfasts.
Mowing grass was a passion for George, not just a job, and he mowed lawns for others as well as himself until he was no longer able to just a short time ago.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate George's life on June 21st at World Outreach Worship Center, 1233 Shields Rd., Newport News, VA 23608. The family will receive visitors at 11:00am, followed by a service at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Peninsula Rescue Mission or the American Heart Association in George's memory.
