Mr. George W. Langley, age 74, affectionately known to many as "Uncle George," entered into rest on Friday, December 29, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Graveside services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Blackmon Cemetery by Reverend Michael Laney. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Langley was born February 18, 1949 in the Taxahaw Community of Lancaster County, SC a son of the late Heyward and Neva Faile Langley. He was employed with Tucker Lumber Company with over 32 years of service and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. George enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, cooking his world-famous catfish stew, and hosting fish fry’s. Whether you called him George, Uncle George, Mr. Langley, or Paw-Paw, you knew he was your friend.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Langley was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Langley; grandson, Jeremiah Medlin; and siblings, Doris Jones, Mary Laney, Glendora Deese, Dean Langley, Victoria Langley, LouJean Langley, Eunice Messer, Arleda Mays, Frank Langley, Leonard Langley, and Carson “Buck” Langley.
Survivors include his sons, Jeffery (Angel) Langley, Joey Langley, and Dale Langley all of Great Falls, SC; daughters, Brittany (Bobby) Medlin of Pageland, SC, and Teresa Ramirez of Wallace, SC; grandchildren, Tyler (Christina) Langley, Hailey (Zachary) Langley, Amanda Garcia, Zachary Langley, Adisyn Langley, Angel Langley, Elizabeth Ramirez, Jessica (Philiph) Johnson, and Kayla Johnson; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Brenda McManus of Jefferson, SC, Dianna Wallace, and Leneve Horne both of Pageland, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Charles Deese.
The family would like to express a special thank you to hospice nurse, Erica Greene, and caretaker, Penny Blalock for the exceptional love and care they provided to Mr. Langley and the family.
