George Wade Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. - Federalsburg on Mar. 12, 2026.
George A. Wade, Jr. of Tilghman, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family,

George was born on September 11, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late George A. Sr. and Margaret Wade. He is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Davis. George grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and dedicated many years of his life to public service. He began his fire service in 1966 with the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department. In September 1970, at just 22 years old, George applied to join the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department and was hired that November as a full-time firefighter. Throughout the early years of his career, he continued to build his knowledge through advanced training, including coursework at the University of Maryland in both firefighting and heavy rescue. After many years of service, George retired on service-connected disability in 1986. He remained connected to the department and was unanimously granted Life Membership by the Board of Directors in 1988.

George and his wife, Donna, moved to Bonita Springs, Florida in 2002, where he spent more than two decades enjoying the sunshine and coastal lifestyle. George especially loved spending his time fishing, boating and golfing - hobbies that brought him great joy and many memorable moments with family and friends.

In 2024, George relocated to Tilghman, Maryland, a place whose quiet waterfront charm suited him well. He appreciated the slower pace of life and the beauty of the surrounding water, continuing to enjoy the simple pleasures that meant so much to him.

George will be remembered for his dedication to family, his years of service to others, and his love of the outdoors. He cherished time spent with those closest to him and leaves behind many fond memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.

George is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna L. Wade; his daughter, Mary Catherine Lorentz (Mike); his cherished granddaughter, Catherine Alexis "Lexi" Lewis; and his sister, Noreen Potter.

A celebration of George's life will be scheduled for a later date.
