George Wait Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 8, 2025.
George Richard Wait, 90, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

George was born on May 31, 1935, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Rose and Roland Wait. He married Patti Wait, and they remained close friends throughout their lives.

A devoted Sooners and Dallas Cowboys fan, George was known for his friendly, hardworking, and silly personality. When in awe, he would exclaim, "Well, I'll be damned," a phrase lovingly coined as his catchphrase by his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. George was also a lifelong fan of Western movies and could often be found enjoying a good cowboy film-usually with the TV at full volume. He cherished time spent with his three children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Wes, Jack, Rosie, and Herbert. George is survived by his three beloved children: Mike (Cindy), Lana (Vince), and Kelly; his grandchildren: Tyler (Ariel), Morgan, Tori (Jon), and Madison (Armin); and his great-grandchildren: Vivi, Beau, Beckham, and Hazel.

George's laughter, stories, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him-and we're certain he's reunited with his siblings.

The family will honor him privately.
