George Warner Obituary

George (Tommy) Warner of Austin reunited with his wife, Stella, on December 13, 2025.
Tommy was born December 5, 1934, in Wink, Texas to Lanora Johns Warner and Henry Hancel Warner. Tommy was an All-State shortstop and played on the 1951 Odessa High School State Tournament team. Tommy graduated from North Texas in 1957 with a Bachelor of Education and later earned a master's degree. Tommy worked in the field of education for over 30 years.
On December 27, 1958, Tommy married the love of his life and soulmate, Stella Phillips. They raised their 3 children, Hank, Phil and Jill in Odessa, Texas. Later in life their niece, Kim Warner, came to join the family, and they grew by one.
In 1994, Tommy and Stella moved to Austin to be near their kids and grandkids and watch their family grow. The family always gathered on birthdays and holidays and played games. Tommy and Stella would take their granddaughters, Courtney and Amber, on vacation every summer. Tommy was an avid golfer and sports fan and loved everything U.T. Longhorns and Chicago Cubs.
Tommy passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025. He is survived by his sons Hank Warner and husband Paul St. Pierre, Phil Warner and wife Ruth Ortiz, daughter Jill Warner Weir and husband Daren, niece Kim Warner Klotz and husband Mike. Grandchildren, Kennedy, Courtney Johnson and husband Michael Johnson with their children Lucy and Franklin; Amber Gomez and husband Juan with their child Tiago; Zackery Klotz, Kaitlynn Klotz; and one grandniece, Jacklyn Brown Hulstein and family.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Watermark Assisted Living and Magnolia Hospice for the loving care provided to Tommy in his final days.
Memorial Services for Tommy will be on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 10:00am, at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin. In lieu of flowers the family asks for consideration of donations to the Endowment Fund: Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Warner was a teacher of mine at Odessa High School. I remember him as a kind and caring gentleman who really cared about his students. He was always willing to listen to us and gave us great advice about life. I have often thought about him and his kindness over the years and wondered where he was. Now I know, he is reunited with his wife and resting comfortably in the arms of Jesus. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a great man. I know you are proud of him.
