GEORGE MATTHEW WILKINS II

November 19, 1940 December 23, 2022

George Matthew Wilkins II was born on November 19, 1940, in Bakersfield, California. He passed away on December 23, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Wilkins and Flossie Wilkins, his sister, Marilyn Maynard, and his son, Brian Scott Wilkins.

He is survived by his wife, Gayla Ann Wilkins, his son, George Matthew Wilkins III (Matt), two grandchildren, Katelyn Marie Wilkins and Andrew Scott Wilkins. Also, a daughter to him, Sharon Fuller.

He met the love of his life Gayla in 1974 and they were married 48 wonderful years. They enjoyed life together with their children and grandchildren, family, and many great friends. George owned a 76 service station on River Blvd & Jefferson from 1966-1972. Then he worked for Kern County Building Services as a Supervisor III for 34 years. He loved going to the beach and watching the waves break. George loved his truck and loved keeping it spotless. He always had the greenest lawn on the block. If you knew George and ran into him at the store, or the bank, or a restaurant, then you knew you were in for a good story. George loved to talk to everyone! He remembered everyone he met including the bank tellers, tire shop workers, waitresses, it didn't matter, if George met you and talked to you, he remembered and thought about you. George kept a place in his heart for us all.

Services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Northeast, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA.
