George Stephen Wilkinson was tragically taken from us, as the result of a car accident in New York on 24th February, 2022. Son to Diane Wilkinson and the late Stuart Wilkinson; and brother to loving sister Hanna Brown. George was also engaged to be married to Kristin Updike. George graduated from Warner University, Florida, USA in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise Science.
Following graduation George went on to pursue his passion for racket sports on the East Coast of America. George was a born competitor and had a successful career in Paddle Tennis - reaching a top ranking of 3rd in the USA of the APTA (American Paddle Tennis Association ). This culminated in several directorships within various beautiful country clubs in the area.
George's "larger than life" personality enabled him to flourish and he was known by all as the "light in any room". The sporting community and his friends and family have been left with a huge hole but lets not forget George's favourite expressions, "Come on, high energy" and "Next level". This was certainly how he lived his life. George and Kristin had great plans and hopes for their life together, along with Grayson and Harper but losing him at only 37 years old has been tragic. Kristin and George shared a great passion for sporting pursuits.
A memorial to George is being held at the APTA National Championships in Long Island on 17th March @ 8.30 p.m. A gathering for friends and family is also being held at Manursing Island Club on Saturday 19th March. There will also be a memorial to George in England soon.
