Georgena "Genie" Beck Ryan Cavin

July 26, 1949 – August 1, 2025

Georgena "Genie" Beck Ryan Cavin. 76, a resident of the Rogue River community passed away on August 1, 2025.

Genie was born on July 26, 1949, in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was the oldest of two children born to George and Rena (Duyck) Beck. She graduated from Brookings-Harbor High School in the Class of 1967.

She always loved a fast paced life, which showed in the way she bragged about how she would run her muscle car up and down the streets of Brookings - Harbor when she was a teen.

She had a lifelong passion for music and poetry, she was always playing music or writing her beautiful poetry every chance she had. She loved to play her guitar, accordion and/or piano. Earlier in life, she worked for Hasting Bulb Growers in Harbor, OR. She later started work at South Coast Lumber Mill in Brookings, OR for over 20 years before retiring. She took pride in the fact that she was able to keep up with the men in the job.

She met her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Cavin, through mutual friends. They soon began dating and married 1 year later on February 5, 1992, at Harbor Fire Hall in Harbor, OR. They made their home in Harbor for 18 years. They eventually moved to Gold Hill in 2010.

Genie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Rena (Duyck) Beck, one sibling, George W Beck, and one granddaughter Stephanie J Reibel

She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence "Larry" Cavin, four daughters and their husbands, Connie (Cavin) and Dwayne Hornbaker of Gold Hill Or, Cheryl (Cavin) and Bill Hausherr of Gold Hill OR, Michelle (Ryan) and George Perkins of Roseburg OR and Rebecca (Ryan) and Rick Suter of Winston, OR

She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held August 16, 2025 at 11:30 am at the WJ Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings, OR. All who knew and loved Genie are welcome to attend.
