Marlene J. Cavin, age 86, of Council Bluffs, passed away August 21, 2025, at CHI-Mercy Hospital. Marlene was born April 2, 1939, in Lakota, IA, to the late Eizo and Ella (Hunt) Heyes. She graduated from Lakota High School in 1957 and attended college for three years. Marlene married David B. Cavin on August 30, 1980, in Nashua, IA. She was a bookkeeper and title searcher for Abstract Guaranty and then worked for the Omaha Public Schools as a paraprofessional. Marlene was a member of Calvary Country Church. In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her sister, Joann Mae Heyes in 1956; brother, Dick Allen Heyes in 1940; and brother-in-law, Chuck Fletcher in 2010. Marlene is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, David B. Cavin; daughter, Karen Barry; son, Rob Langhoff all of Council Bluffs; daughter, Janice (Brian) Lemm of Maryville, MO; five grandchildren, Danyelle, Kent, Jr., Nikki (Cole), Shelby, and Koltin; four great-grandchildren, Jaela, Letty, Eliza, and Haydin; sister, Leona Fletcher of Smyrna, TN; nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Thursday, 11 a.m. at Calvary Country Church, 22429 Hwy 6. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery with a lunch following at the church. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Country Church.
