Georgetta Leonard (Washington), age 82, passed away peacefully on November
16, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on January 26, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, she
lived a full and vibrant life marked by resilience, devotion to family, and an unmistakable
spark that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Georgetta was the daughter of the late George Washington and the late Mary Carter.
Raised in the Baptist faith, she later embraced Catholicism upon marrying the love of
her life, Billy Joe Leonard. Their union was one of shared strength and enduring
commitment until his passing.

Professionally, Georgetta dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing
Assistant with Chattahoochee Valley Nursing. Her work reflected her deep compassion
and unwavering sense of responsibility-qualities that defined her both at work and at
home.

She was predeceased by her brother Dennis Washington and her sister Marilyn
Dickerson, and has one surviving sibling, her sister Hattie Stoudemire. She was the
proud mother of four daughters: Georgette Council (Darriel), Lillian Leonard, and Mary Ann
Hannah (Jose'), and Billie Jo Quinn. Her legacy continues through numerous
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who
cherished her presence in their lives.
Georgetta had a spirited personality-confident, in control, and always ready to bring
laughter into any room. Her spicy attitude was matched only by her warmth and
generosity. She found joy in simple pleasures: knitting intricate patterns with care,
practicing archery with precision, bowling with enthusiasm, and challenging herself with
Bingo, games, and puzzles that kept her mind sharp.

Her life was a tapestry woven with strength, humor, faith, and love-a reflection of a
A woman who lived on her own terms while nurturing those around her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire
generations to come.
